Travels with my camera

Another fantastic sunny day (4th in a row now) Freezing cold out of the sun though, the frost never thawed off my grass today, and the road was still white where the sun never reached. It went down to minus 4c last night, so not as cold as it has been. I took Emma for the hill-climb walk this afternoon - one I only attempt when (a) I am feeling fit and (b) it is dry. Its a farm track which for the first part is about a 1 in 3 hill, very stoney, then levels out to grass trackway, but because of the farmers tractor using it, a nightmare if wet, just a load of sludge. Still was a bit muddy. Had to wash Emma's feet in a bowl of warm water when I got back! Fantastic views from the top. Took a couple of pics of the village on the way back down.

Another fab day today, not a cloud to be seen from dawn till dusk, although it stayed quite cold, even in the sun, it was only about 3c. Went to New Quay again, took Emma for a good huff round on the sands, then had fish and chips on the harbour wall. I'm not safe to let out though. We were out of the car for about an hour and a half. Went back and went to get my keys, and I hadn't got them! Panic stricken, something I have always dreaded. Then I saw them, I'd left them in the drivers door. That's the second time I've done that. One day I'm going to get back to the car and it won't be there. I really don't know where my brain is sometimes, I just don't concentrate enough these days, always thinking of too many things at once.

Another beautiful sunny day today. Very cold though. Still had to scrape ice from the car windscreen when I went out just after 11 am. Went to the Llanybydder Horse Mart, not much to see, then on to my friend's, had a spot of lunch and a good old chat, then took Emma to my favourite place in all the world again for a walk on the way back homeward. I did go last week and took some pictures actually, but it was so dull and dreary, I didn't have the heart to publish them on here. This time they are almost a duplicate of the ones I took between Christmas and the New Year, the bridge one especially, but tried to take a few from different places. I just love that place. Good day today. :o)

Another fantastic day today, weatherwise. Started off at zero degrees at 9am, but not enough to give a frost or freeze the bird baths. Blue skies, sunshine, not a breath of wind, anyone would be thrilled to have a day like this at the beginning of April, let alone mid-January. Took Emma to Penbryn. Haven't been there for about 18 months since I got a warning "parking ticket" from the NT! This time I decided I'd better park in the official car park and walk down the half mile road to the beach, rather than park at the turning circle only. So goody-twoshoes trudges down, and then finds about 4 other vehicles parked in the turning circle! Never mind, I wanted the longer walk, as I knew the tide would be in and there wasn't an awful lot of sands to walk on. Took the long route back, up the woodland path to the side of the streamlet. Not a wise move, it started off okay with sandy steps, but quickly progressed into a horrible muddy load of sludge, but it was too late to turn back. Emma got smothered. So did my best trainers. Still, we managed to wash off in the stream when we were nearly back to the car park! Then drove to New Quay and had fish and chips sitting on the harbour wall. Had fun feeding a cheeky Rook. Bloody lovely. :o)

Crazy weather just lately. Not much sunshine, but really mild and quite pleasant even though we've had a fair bit of rainfall as usual. Took the dog to Aberporth beach this afternoon, didn't even really need a coat, sea was calm, deserted beach, absolutely great! The only bone of contention - although I combined this with a trip to Tescos, a 28 mile journey to get a breath of sea air, and some cretin had a bonfire in the back garden of a house overlooking the bay, and all you could smell was bloody smoke! Ended up stinking like a kipper. :( All sorts of strange things happening for January. Catkins are out on the little hazlenut tree by the back door, my flowering currant has buds about to break out into leaf, the banks everywhere are covered in gorse in full bloom already, abnd birds are singing and courting! I know it's too early to hope that winter is over, February can be evil. Still, make the most of this, it's nice to be able to go outside without shuddering. :o)

Awful day today, pouring with rain since before lunch, but at least not the gales that they promised, neither is it particularly cold for January, Yesterday was nice, went to Llanelli and took some pictures both just outside the town on a Heritage footpath where I walked Emma, very muddy but quite nice all the same, worth another look on a nice day! And I stopped twice on the way back to take some amazing sunset photos again.

Haven't done any of this for a while, as I haven't been anywhere different with the camera to the pictures already on here, and plus the weather has been pretty hideous, and who wants to see a picture of grey skies and rain anyway? However, after the most horrendous day yesterday, gales and lashing rain for about 24 hours, today started grey, but by around 9.30 am the skies cleared, and we have been treated to the most glorious, spring-like day. Virtually unbroken sunshine all day, just the odd cloud which hasn't moved much, blue skies, and just all round fab! Wish winter could always be like this. Took Emma to Newcastle Emlyn castle again, and there was a robin singing his heart out in a tree, was lovely. Took some pictures on the way back for a change, of Llandysul, looking across down the valley to the left of the village. These were taken at around 3.15 pm, and the moon was already up!

Well here we are in 2006. I haven't written or posted any photos for a few days, due to the fact that the weather has been hideous. Rain, rain and more sodding rain until today, when hooray, it didn't rain. Nearly a whole 24 hours without rain, it must be a miracle - but I have just let the dog out, and guess what, it's raining.

Yesterday was so awful, I only managed to take the dog for about a 10 minute walk at around 3.30, before we got wet and cold and decided to give the day up as a bad job.

Today started slightly misty, the attached photo shows just a small brigadoon type patch of fog across the village, take at 8.45 am this morning. This rapidly became thick fog, but soon dispersed and by about 12 noon, we had a beautiful sunny day, with blue skies.

The forecast is for more of the arctic weather to return by Friday I believe, so something to really look forward to.

The car is drying out a bit, I went and bought a new fan heater today, so hopefully shall give it another good airing tomorrow. The front seats are still a little damp, not too terrible though, but the front carpets are the worst. I'm sick of driving with the heater flat out already, I had the sun roof open today, it was like summer all over again!
